Project Overview
Grass is a new service that aims to revolutionize how internet bandwidth is utilized by allowing users to monetize their unused internet capacity. The platform enables verified businesses and research institutions to use individuals' spare bandwidth for tasks like checking local prices, viewing regional ads, and conducting academic research, while rewarding users with "network ownership" in return.
What makes Grass particularly significant is that it addresses an existing practice where large corporations are already using people's bandwidth through residential proxy networks, often without their knowledge or compensation, by burying this permission in lengthy terms and conditions. Unlike these current practices, Grass promises transparency, user control (including the ability to pause sharing), security, and direct compensation for users' bandwidth contribution, essentially democratizing network ownership in the internet economy.
