Project Overview
Orbiter Finance is a decentralized cross-rollup bridge within the Ethereum ecosystem, designed to improve mainnet-rollup interoperability through a unique transaction model where users (Senders) interact directly with service providers (Makers) using externally owned addresses rather than contract addresses. The protocol supports ETH and ERC-20 tokens, utilizing an identification code system to distinguish between different destination networks, and implements a dynamic fee structure that combines withholding fees and trading fees to maintain competitive pricing.
The project places a strong emphasis on security through its arbitration mechanism, which allows users to challenge and resolve disputed transactions using a system of three key smart contracts: the Maker Deposit Contract (MDC), Event Binding Contract (EBC), and Zero-Knowledge Simple Payment Verification (ZK-SPV). This security framework leverages Ethereum's Layer 2 security features and employs zero-knowledge proof technology to validate transaction existence and legitimacy, ensuring a secure and efficient cross-rollup experience while maintaining the ability to resolve disputes through a cost-effective arbitration process.
