Project Overview
Scroll is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that utilizes zero-knowledge proofs and a zkEVM to provide enhanced scalability while maintaining Ethereum's security and compatibility. The platform works by publishing all transactions to Ethereum and using cryptographic proofs to verify that the Scroll network follows Ethereum's rules, achieving this through breakthroughs in zero-knowledge cryptography, blockchain protocol design, and hardware acceleration.
The protocol is currently live on mainnet and also maintains a testnet on Ethereum Sepolia, offering users the ability to bridge assets and interact with popular DeFi applications like Uniswap and Aave. While fully operational, Scroll continues to work on further decentralizing each component of its stack to enhance the platform's capabilities.
