Project Overview
Symbiotic is a shared security protocol that enables networks to customize their restaking implementations while coordinating through a thin, permissionless layer on Ethereum. The protocol's core strength lies in its flexibility, allowing networks to control all aspects of their security setup including collateral types, operator selection, rewards, and slashing mechanisms, while minimizing risks through immutable core contracts and enabling capital efficiency through multi-asset support and reputation-based curation.
The protocol consists of five key components working together: Collateral (representing various on-chain assets), Vaults (handling delegation of collateral to operators), Operators (entities running network infrastructure), Resolvers (arbitrating slashing penalties), and Networks (protocols requiring distributed node operators). This architecture allows networks and restakers to share collateral efficiently while maintaining control over their security parameters, with resolvers serving as neutral arbitrators for penalties across the ecosystem.
